EnbridgeAI & Automation Engineering Intern, Leak Detection
I built automation for the leak-detection team and an assistant that searches 20,000 old Jira issues.
What I did
- Built a node-based automation tool that a team of 12 engineers adopted. Routine model setup went from 15–30 minutes to under one.
- Designed a JSON workflow format and a Python engine to run it, so the same automation runs from the editor or headless from a command line.
- Deployed a RAG assistant over 20,000 past Jira issues that finds old investigations from a question in plain English.
- Traced false leak alarms to flowmeter noise using six months of readings. The rolling-median filter I tested missed none of the historical leaks and now runs in production.

City of EdmontonEngineering Co-op Student, Street Lighting
I built small tools for the street lighting team and led the lighting redesign for the Chinatown Gate.
What I did
- Wrote a JavaScript tool that sets up project folders, names files the same way every time and tracks where each job is. New-project setup went from 30 minutes to under 5.
- Automated the daily cleanup of an 8,000-record public-inquiry database with Google Apps Script. Processing time dropped by 80%.
- Checked drawings and field inspections against the ArcGIS asset records across 30+ design packages, and fixed 100+ missing or wrong entries.
- Led the Chinatown Gate lighting redesign: LED replacements for 48 fixtures, installation layouts and power estimates. The work order was approved and should use 60% less energy.

University of AlbertaAI Research Assistant, Medical Imaging
I checked and grew the training data for a model that outlines structures in X-ray and ultrasound images.
What I did
- Built a Python checker that scores every segmentation mask (IoU and Dice) against the reference and flags questionable ones for review before training.
- Annotated 150+ X-ray and ultrasound images, including moderate and severe cases on purpose, so the model sees more of the hard examples.
- Sorted annotation errors by modality and severity, found the failure modes that kept coming back, and recommended what the group should collect next.

Unmanned Vehicle Applied DynamicsElectronics and Embedded Systems Intern
On drone payload electronics, I got sensor data streaming to the ground at 50 Hz and fixed a video link that kept dropping frames.
What I did
- Wrote C++ telemetry over TCP from the payload board to a ground station at 50 Hz, tested in a hardware-in-the-loop rig.
- Read angle of attack, sideslip and airspeed off the CAN bus, and checked every channel against the physics simulation.
- Used Wireshark to trace silently dropped video frames to a frame-size mismatch. After the fix the feed held 30 fps on the bench.
- Built a Python tool that writes each board’s settings to EEPROM, so customers can set up their own boards without touching firmware.
